How do I verify domain ownership for screenshot monitoring?

Before NerdTools can capture screenshots of your website, you need to verify that you own or control the domain. This is done by adding a DNS TXT record.

Steps to verify

Create a new screenshot monitor by entering your URL.
Copy the verification token shown on the monitor setup page.
Log in to your domain's DNS management panel (usually at your domain registrar or hosting provider).
Add a new TXT record with:
- Host/Name: _nerdtools-screenshot
- Value: Your unique verification token
Save the record and wait for DNS propagation (usually 5-15 minutes, but can take up to 48 hours).
Return to NerdTools and click the verify button.

Troubleshooting

If verification fails:

Double-check the TXT record value matches exactly.
Ensure the record is on _nerdtools-screenshot.yourdomain.com, not the root domain.
Wait longer for DNS propagation and try again.
Use a DNS lookup tool to confirm the record is visible publicly.
